About Georgina
Georgina (Georgie) is the Safeguarding Coordinator for CARE International, a global confederation working to fight poverty and social injustice in the world, with a specific focus on the empowerment of women and girls. Georgie has been with CARE for two years and works with all 22 members of the confederation to implement and operationalise the global safeguarding policy in all aspects of their work – both in development and humanitarian settings.
Prior to joining CARE, Georgie was the Child Safety and Safeguarding Advisor at War Child UK, building safeguarding systems in complex and protracted conflict affected countries including Iraq, Yemen, DRC, CAR and Afghanistan. Georgie has also worked for Save the Children (UK and International) as a roving Safeguarding officer, and sits on the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office independent reference group for Safeguarding.
Georgie began her career in the third sector at the Council for Disabled children, supporting the health and participation teams.
Georgie currently lives in East London with her partner Sam and their puppy Otis – a Toller, who keeps them very busy with his endless energy!
