Disability discrimination
All parents find searching for the best school for their child difficult. However, for a parent with a child that has Special Educational Needs and Disabilities this can be especially challenging. Here are 8 tips to guide you through the primary to secondary school transition process.
What is a disability?
You are disabled under the Equality Act 2010 if you have a physical or mental impairment that has a ‘substantial’ and ‘long-term’ negative effect on your ability to do normal activities
What is disability discrimination?
Disability discrimination is when you are treated unfairly or put at a disadvantage for a reason that relates to your disability.
Where can disability discrimination occur?
- At work
- In an education setting (school or college etc.)
- While shopping
- Eating out
- Staying in a hotel
- Transport and travelling
