The Norfolk Parent Carer Needs Assessment Service is designed to help identify parent/carers support needs, so that they can be directed to related support intended to make their life easier.
Parents and carers in Norfolk looking after a child with disabilities for whom they have parental responsibility. Other family members who do not have parental responsibility (for example, a grandparent, aunt or uncle) may also be able to access assessments if they are providing substantial and regular care for the child (usually defined as 35 hours or more per week).
This service is free to families in the Norfolk area.

They will provide you with more information about the service and discuss the options, to help you find what would most suit you. Their telephone number is 0344 800 8020
If you are a parent caring for a child or young person who has disabilities, you can request a Parent Carer Needs Assessment (PCNA) and/or support related to your caring role.
Whilst caring can be rewarding, it can also affect your ability to do other things or to look after yourself. A PCNA explores your needs and how you are coping with caring – giving you the opportunity to discuss your caring role and its impact on your wellbeing. It is separate to any assessment that your child may have, which focuses on their needs.
During the assessment, someone will work with you on a one-to-one basis to understand how caring impacts you and where you may benefit from some additional support. This includes considering practical matters as well as exploring how caring affects your physical and mental health, work, free time and relationships.
The PCNA is designed to help identify your support needs, so that you can be directed to related support intended to make your life easier. It is not an assessment of your abilities as a parent carer.
